UK retailer Clove, which has been quick to start taking pre-orders for LG’s latest flagship smartphone. It has priced the handset at £499 SIM-free, which makes it more affordable than most of its rivals, including the Galaxy S5, Xperia Z2 and HTC One M8, which all fetch over the £500 mark.

Clove has also given us our first glimpse at a release date for the LG G3, as it’s promising to ship orders on 1 July.

For those who don’t want to buy the LG G3 upfront, O2, Three and Carphone Warehouse have all announced that will be selling it. There’s no word from Vodafone yet, and EE has said that it will not be offering the smartphone.

The LG G3 was unveiled on Tuesday, and looks to outdo its competitors with its 2560×1440 Quad HD resolution display that features a pixel density of 548ppi, compared to the Galaxy S5’s 432ppi and the Xperia Z2’s 424ppi displays. It’s also the first smartphone to feature a laser autofocus in its 13MP camera, which the firm claims means the snapper can focus on objects in less than three milliseconds.

Beyond that, the LG G3 touts a metal-effect casing, a quad-core 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card and a 3,000mAh removable battery with wireless charging support.

It also arrives running Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, which LG has skinned with its redesigned custom user interface, which looks oddly similar to Apple’s iOS 7.

Mobiles.co.uk has given us a glimpse at what we can expect. A spokesperson for the company told The INQUIRER, “We expect this to retail at £33-£38 per month on release, including unlimited minutes, unlimited text and 1GB data on all key networks.”
