Others are Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings and Ray Stevenson. Finally we have Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins.

Thor 2: The Dark Worlds Movie Highlights

The action in this movie takes place one year after ‘The Avengers’. Here Thor is battling to save the Nine Realms. The enemy is a mysterious figure who is said to be older than the universe. Malekith leads a primeval race and is out for revenge. They intend to turn the universe into darkness. This is the kind of enemy that is beyond even the powers of Asgard and Odin. Therefore Thor has to find a way of reuniting with Jane Foster. Together they must embark on a dangerous journey which is in effect a mercy mission. During the course of that task Thor is required to make the ultimate sacrifice. The movie hinges on the ability of the title character to behave selflessly in the wake of a terrible dilemma. In the end you see the nobility that the film is trying to portray.

Chris Hemsworth is the type of good-looking actor that is inoffensive enough to cast as the crown prince. He is heir to the Asgard throne and has connections to the Norse mythological deity. In the previous films we felt that we had been left in a kind of suspense because many of the relationships were not resolved satisfactorily. The current character attempts to bridge those gaps and creates a certain amount of continuity. Jane and Thor must answer the questions that were left hanging. On the other hand the title character may have to give explanations for his behaviors. The conflict is not as obvious as it was in the previous series but you certainly get the idea that there is tension simmering underneath the surface.

Some people have decried the common practice of adding romance to virtually every movie that is made. Natalie Portman is a good enough actress to ensure that Jane Foster does not fall into the trap of romantic clichés. She takes on the role of an astrophysicist who just happens to be a love interest for the title character. Hers is not a direct relationship and a lot of the narrative focuses on what might be ‘issues’. The writers have tried to add depth to a character that is essential for the development of the story. Generally this film is well put together.

Verdict:
All fans of the series should make an effort to watch ‘Thor 2: The Dark Worlds’. The highlight of the flick is the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster. That is something not to be missed.
