Description:
The Samsung Galaxy S4 hit the markets on the 14th of March this year and we have taken the opportunity to see some of the specifications that it has on offer. First of all it must be said that this product is compatible with the LTE/WCDMA and GSM networks. It is a worthy successor to the Samsung Galaxy S III and attempts to cover some of the issues that were of concern. Measuring 5.52” by 2.83” by 0.3”, portability is not an issue for this 4.9oz product. It boasts the powerful Android 4.2.1 “Jelly Bean” operating system and an Exynos 5 Octa 4+4-core Central Processing Unit. Many have pointed out the fact that the Samsung Exynos 5410 has already developed a reputation for efficiency.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Product Features

There are so many good things about this product including the IT PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU. It boasts a 2GB LPDDR3 RAM memory reading as well as options for 16GB or 32GB worth of storage depending on the class that you have selected. There is 64GB worth of removable storage courtesy of the Micro-SD slot. A 2600mAh battery is required for operations but this does not mean that you have to keep replacing it. The 4.99″ FHD Super AMOLED display means that you get to see everything in full profile. A 13-megapixel camera on the rear is complemented by a 2.1-megapixel counterpart at the front. In terms of connectivity you get a USB 2.0 specification as well as HDMI and NFC. This is a Smartphone that caters for any whim that you can think about when you are looking at the class.

The rumor mill was quite busy before we knew what the product was like. This created some incredible expectations which are bound to be disappointed in some measure. However the overall packaging of the product is in the higher echelons of the class. Access to the 2G Network means specification readings of GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900. The 3G Network offers HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 while the 4G Network has LTE 800 / 1800 / 2600 readings. This product uses a Micro-SIM, one of the latest developments that are specifically geared towards Smartphones. The Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is capable of producing 16M colors. In effect you can enjoy 1080 x 1920 pixels, 4.99 inches or a pixel density of ~441 ppi. These are great readings even for a product of this calibre.

The fact that you get multitouch facilities is an added bonus. They have added a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection system (TouchWiz UI) and a variety of Sound Alert Types including Vibration, MP3 and WAV ringtones. The package comes with a 3.5mm jack and a state-of-the-art loudspeaker. Apart from the standard GPRS, you get WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n in dual-band as well as DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi hotspot specifications. This product has Bluetooth facilities (v4.0 with A2DP and EDR).

Verdict:
The Samsung Galaxy S4 promises far better performance than its predecessor. This is a believable claim when you look at the impressive list of specifications that we know of so far.
